Honest comparison for local service businesses
A Podium alternative for texting and reviews, with the price on the page.
By Ethan Mason, founder of Beyond Wealth (Salt Lake City, Utah). Competitor details checked Nov 6, 2026 on the sources listed at the bottom. We sell the Business Suite, so weigh our view with that in mind.
Short answer
Podium does not publish its prices. Its pricing page says to talk to the sales team. Third-party price trackers report about $399 a month for Core and $599 for Pro, with Signature priced on request. Treat those as estimates, not quotes.
The Beyond Wealth Business Suite publishes every price: $80, $197 and $341 a month, no contract. It covers missed-call text-back, one inbox, review requests and website chat, plus the job side Podium doesn’t list: booking, quotes, invoices, crews and expenses. Podium is the stronger pick if you need text marketing blasts, calling from a dashboard, social messages in the inbox or card payments built in.
What Podium is built for.
Podium started with text-based review requests and grew into a messaging platform for local businesses. Its pricing page lists these parts of the platform: reviews collected by text, phones (calling from the dashboard), an inbox for texts, calls, emails and social messages, payments, website chat, text marketing, and an AI Employee you can add to any plan.
If most of your day is answering messages across several locations, that is a strong set of tools. The catch for a small service business is cost and fit: you pay for a messaging platform, and you still need separate apps for scheduling, quoting, invoicing and crews.

Questions to ask Podium’s sales team before you sign
- How long is the term, does it renew on its own, and how much notice do I need to give to cancel?
- How many texts a month are included, and what do bulk message credits cost after that?
- What is the 10DLC fee, and is it one time or monthly?
- Is the price per location?
- What does the AI Employee add-on cost?
- What are the card processing rates?

How texting and reviews work in the Business Suite.
Here is the actual flow, step by step, so you can judge it against what you do today.
- A call you miss gets a text back. Calls to your business number forward to your phone. If you don’t pick up, the caller gets one text from your business number, lands in your CRM as a new contact, and you get an alert. This runs on a Twilio phone number.
- Every conversation lands in one inbox. Website chats, text replies, missed calls, form requests, online bookings and approved quotes show up in one list, newest first. You can assign, snooze and save quick replies. Reply by text through your own Twilio number, or by email. If texting isn’t connected yet, you get a one-tap link that sends from your own phone.
- Website chat answers from your own info. Visitors ask questions on your site and the chat answers only from the business details you saved. Those answers use prepaid credits; when the credits run out, it turns into a plain contact form. No surprise bill.
- Review requests go out after you get paid. Switch on the paid-invoice automation and, when an invoice is paid, the customer gets a thank-you email, then a review request the next day, then a referral link a few days later if they gave email permission. You can change the wording and timing.
- Ask in person, too. You get one review link for every customer, printable QR cards for the truck or the invoice, and a ready-made text message to send from your phone.
- Hear problems privately. A private feedback link asks for a 0 to 10 score and a comment. A low score alerts you right away. Your public review link is on that page for every customer, whatever score they give. Asking only happy customers for reviews (review gating) is against Google’s rules, so we don’t do it.
- Show reviews on your site. Add real reviews in the customer’s own words, and the website widget shows each one with its source and date.
Texts only go to customers who agreed to texts, and every automated text includes a way to opt out.

Which one fits you.
Stay with Podium if
- You run several locations and answer a high volume of messages every day.
- You send text marketing campaigns to big lists.
- You want calls, texts, emails and Facebook or Instagram messages in one place.
- You want card payments built into the same inbox.
- The contract you signed still has time left. Read it before you cancel anything.
Try the Business Suite if
- You run a service business and want the job side in the same app: booking, quotes, invoices, crews and expenses.
- You want to see the price before you talk to anyone.
- You want no contract, cancel anytime.
- You are fine with email broadcasts and one-to-one texting instead of text blasts.
Where we are honestly behind.
- No text blasts. Broadcasts go by email to customers who gave email permission. Texting is one-to-one and automated reminders.
- No phone system. Missed calls get a text back, but you can’t place or record calls from the app.
- No social inbox. Facebook and Instagram messages stay in those apps.
- Texting needs a Twilio account. Twilio bills you directly, including its fees for registering a business number for texting in the US. We help you set it up.
- Reviews widget is manual. You add your real reviews yourself or import them from a spreadsheet; it does not pull from Google on its own.
- Payments are PayPal only, and we are a small founder-led company in Salt Lake City.
How to switch.
- Check your Podium agreement for the end date and the notice you need to give.
- Export your contacts as a spreadsheet (CSV). Only bring over text or email permission you actually recorded.
- Start the 3-day trial for $8, import the list, and connect your email sender and Twilio number.
- Plan your phone number. If your business number lives with Podium, ask both sides about moving (porting) it before you cancel, so calls never drop.
- Turn on the review steps and print QR cards for the truck. Then cancel the old plan when its term allows.

Questions owners ask.
How much does Podium cost?
Podium does not publish prices; its pricing page asks you to talk to sales. Third-party trackers report about $399 a month for Core and $599 for Pro, with Signature priced on request. Ask Podium for a written quote. Checked Nov 6, 2026.
Does the Business Suite send review requests by text?
You get a ready-made review text you can send from your own phone in one tap, plus QR cards. The automatic review request after a paid invoice goes by email. Automated texts go only to customers who agreed to texts, through your own Twilio number.
Do I need a Twilio account?
For two-way texting from your business number and for missed-call text-back, yes. Twilio bills you directly at its rates and we add nothing. Everything else works without it, and you get one-tap text links that send from your own phone.
Can I keep my business phone number?
Usually, yes. Numbers can often be moved (ported) to Twilio. Ask before you cancel your old service so calls don’t drop.
Can I only ask happy customers for reviews?
No. That is called review gating and Google does not allow it. Every customer sees the same public review link; low private feedback scores just alert you so you can make it right.
Is there a contract?
No. The Business Suite is billed monthly, with no contract, cancel anytime from your account. The 3-day trial is $8 once and never renews on its own.
